We have a lovely young man volunteering for Rotary at RIMERN one day a week while he is looking for an IT position which he is finding difficult to obtain.
He is very, very, shy but a hard worker and we are very grateful to have him helping out. I mentioned his skills at last night's meeting and it was suggested that his information should go in the Rotarian which I have his permission to arrange. This is the paragraph I asked Alex to prepare.
I have a Bachelor's degree in Applied Mathematics, and have 18 months prefossional experience in software development. This includes experience using Microsoft PowerPoint Platform (especially Power Pages and Power Apps), Azure and DevOps, SQL, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Python, among other things. At my last job I was responsible for database integrations and building web apps. Very happy to learn new skills and software on the job."
Thank you so much for your suggestion and help!
Kind Regards,
Alex Lugovskoy

RIMERN's Aboriginal Homemakers Program:
Aboriginal Victorians are 0.8% of the population but over 10% of the people needing support from homelessness services, so RIMERN's here to help!
Working with 8 Aboriginal referral agencies, RIMERN supplies everything a homemaker needs to turn an empty property into a welcoming home, but while many items are donated, some we have to buy and we need your help to meet demand!
Our New Breakfast Catch-Up and Rotary Training for Newly Inducted Members
Our next breakfast catch-up at 8.00 am on Thursday, 22 October 2026 at Bulguardio Expresso Bar & Osteria (970 Toorak Rd, Camberwell), as part of a new initiative to help recently inducted members connect with the club. The informal session focused on Club Runner, guiding members through the website’s key features and helping them download the Club Runner app. It provided practical support in a relaxed, small-group setting. Paced learning to suit new members and members that may want to refresh themselves with Rotary fundamentals and the evolving CR platform.
All members are warmly invited to attend and feel free to add value to this new learning-teaching environment. Please contact our membership chair Fabienne to reserve seating for you.
Proposed topics for future meet ups will cover:
Understanding how a club organises its projects and operations through the five key avenues and the importance of Club Committees and participating in Committees.
An overview of the Rotary Foundation and its role in providing grants for club programs.
The role of District and the upcoming District Conference.
Opportunities for leadership development in club service engagement.
The breakfast catch-up is planned for every second Thursday, offering
members—particularly those who work full time—another opportunity to meet outside the weekly Wednesday evening dinners. It is not intended to replace the regular dinner meeting, but to strengthen ongoing connections and provide time to explore useful topics together. We are exploring that these meetings will be considered as make-ups for monthly attendance records.
