It was great to welcome esteemed long-standing member and Almoner Richard Gray at last week’s meeting after his loving wife and great supporter of our club, Helen Gray, sadly passed away recently.
Members also heard guest speaker Andrew Campbell and his colleague Jeffrey Pang both Audiologists, who provided each member a copy of Andrew’s book ‘Health & Brain Health’. The correlation between loss of hearing and Alzheimer or Dementia was also echoed by Associate Professor Michael Woodward, Head of Aged Care Research and Memory Clinic at Austin Health at the cluster presentation on 27 September this year.
Loss of hearing is a risk factor for further health complications as it can lead to a decline in cognitive levels, particularly when associated with social isolation. The presentation was both informative and increased our awareness of vital preventative measures and the potential consequences of not seeking audiological evaluation for our loves ones as well as ourselves.
Following members’ feedback at the last Club Forum, Committee Chairs will present an overview of each of the five committees on a regular basis at club meetings. Last week, Tim Landsberg, Chair of the International Committee provided the first of a series of committee updates.

Thank you to Nick Pane and Gary Goldsmith for assisting at the last Camberwell Sunday market.
Next week’s meeting will be the Annual General Meeting. It is expected to take up a relatively short part of the meeting, giving members more time for fellowship. Please register your attendance.
Look forward to seeing you then.
