We gather together on the lands of the traditional custodians, the Wurundjeri and Woi Wurrung people. We pay our respects to all of Melbourne’s First Peoples, to their ancestors and Elders, and to our shared future together.

Let’s work together, to take action to create hope in the world and in our local communities.
Gonvenor of the successful and recently concluded Eltham Art Show, Brenda Ibels, has acknowledged the valuable contribution of ‘our’ Brenda (Innes) and Lyn Bertali (former Camberwell Rotarian). She said the 2023 Art Show brought out the best efforts of some very special people and thanked Brenda and Lyn for their ‘tiresome efforts in superbly curating the show.’ The Art Show is presented by the Rotary Club of Eltham and the Nillumbik Shire Council. Lyn has been a hard working supporter of our Art Show, particularly this year with Brenda being away overseas. Brenda Ibels likewise made a significant contribution during the busy lead up to our 2023 Art Show for which we are most grateful.
The 2023 Eltham Art Show Best in Show Winner was awarded to Greg Allen- ‘Ocean Might, Venus Bay’ Watercolor on paper (see pic).
As advised at the September meeting RC Camberwell is happy to join with The Melbourne Rotary Passport Club in this important fundraiser rather than administering our own group.
Please advise Lyndon Joss lyndonjoss@fastmail.com of your donation / commitment so we can acknowledge our team after the walk.
Note: Signing up does not oblige you to physically do the walk, but why not join in the fun.

31st Paul Harris Breakfast – Tuesday 21st November 2023
This annual breakfast has been held since 1992 with all proceeds going to the Rotary Foundation.
This year we are joined by guest speaker Peter Hitchener OAM, who will be speaking on his career reporting the news.
Peter grew up near a small town in rural southeast Queensland and joined the Nine Network back in 1973. After stints at radio for 4BH Brisbane and the ABC, he joined the ranks as a news anchor for Nine News (1973) presenting the news alongside Brian Henderson and Sir Eric Pearce. He has been presenting the main weeknight bulletin since 1998 after succeeding Brian Naylor. He is always on the move, supporting a number of community organizations, playing golf, and following the action of the St Kilda Football Club and Melbourne Storm. Peter was a Victorian Senior of the Year finalist in 2015 and awarded an Order of Australia Medal in 2017 "for services to the broadcast media and to the community".
OCTOBER IS MENTAL HEALTH MONTH
Big Serve Bayside will raise funds to support Youth Mental Health programs and other Rotary programs
46% of Secondary School children in Bayside can’t talk about things that upset them; 40% criticise themselves for what is happening, and 33% feel nervous or anxious. These are the precursors of mental ill-health and we need to address them urgently.
