We were back the The Tower for regular weekly dinner evenings after our beautiful social evening last week at Chef Wong on Camberwell Road. We had a total of twenty nine people, comprising of members and guests. Our wonderful guests were as follows;
Nick Pearce – our Guest Speaker.
Jasmine Hu – our newest member (Induction today, details attached below).
Dan Zhang (our new member to be inducted 12 August).
Members partners Sue Hope and Tinna Shen.
Andy Round – President of the Rotary Club of Rowville – was gracious to stay after our dinner meeting, to present a deeper dive (to a select group) into the concept of The Business Awards that his club has successfully used.
It was great to see the Andersons back in full force and firing on all cylinders. Not sure if we have the real Lindy and Murray back on deck or clones of their former self. They bounced back pretty quickly from their “medical journeys” and immediately grabbed the Rotary Reins and are racing again. It was nice to see Don Jago back in his favorite seat and full of positive advice.
It was my honour and privelege to officiate the Induction of Jasmine Hu who was proposed by Fabienne Nichola. After the formalities of Induction Jasmine Hu gave us an amazing and inspiring Induction Speech, which I have attached below.

Last week, a group of us—Graeme Hope, Daya Govender, Anne Murphy, Robert Pattison, and myself— attended the Hope in a Suitcase warehouse to assist with packing suitcases for this project.
We were moved by the dedication of Victorian Manager Julie Armstrong and her team of volunteers. Without any State financial assistance, this year they have packed and delivered over 1,500 suitcases to government agencies across both metropolitan and regional areas.
Each suitcase is thoughtfully filled with age- and gender-appropriate gifts, including the items donated through our own project. Seeing the quality and abundance of these gifts firsthand was truly inspiring. They are sure to bring immeasurable comfort and joy to the vulnerable children who receiving them during this most stressful and frightening time in their lives.
The Community Service Committee is running the annual clothing and blanket drive. The items will be donated to St Vincent de Paul who will give them to in need people in Boroondara to keep warm. Jackets, jumpers, scarfs, blankets, baby and kids clothing are ideal. Please bring them to our weekly dinner at the Tower hotel over the few weeks.
