We gather together on the lands of the traditional custodians, the Wurundjeri and Woi Wurrung people. We pay our respects to all of Melbourne’s First Peoples, to their ancestors and Elders, and to our shared future together.

Last week’s meeting was a very busy one. It was a great pleasure to induct two new members, Brett Campbell and Nav Muniratha. They impressed us with their impeccable character, willingness to contribute and the professional experience. Congratulations to both of them.
Don Jago introduced two guests, Norberto Soarez da Cruz, a Royce Abbey scholarship recipient and Father Frank Hennessy who is hosting him. Norberto presented the President with a traditional gift. In turn he was presented with an Alumni Royce Abbey Scholarship badge.
The Rotary Outreach Myeloma Program (ROMP) announced that Felicity Hamley-Harrison is the first to receive a regional nursing ROMP scholarship. Congratulations to a worthy candidate who, once this additional training is completed, will provide specialised support to regional myeloma patients. Many thanks for the efforts and commitment of the Myeloma Foundation team.
Kieran Healy presented his Member Behind the Badge providing members a better understanding of his background and an overview of his professional and personal experiences. Members were delighted to hear his combined interest and career in overseas travel, particularly given it’s been on hold for us over the past couple of years or so.
We contributed the proceeds of our weekly raffle to the End Polio Program to commemorate the End Polio Day on 24 October.
We were saddened to hear that Helen Gray suffered serious injuries as a result of a fall at home about a week ago. Our best wishes to Helen for a quick recovery.
Thank you to all those who participated in the last Saturday’s Bunnings sausage sizzle. Although the weather was unkind, the day was a success thanks to the support of local tradies from construction sites close by. Special thanks to new members Paul Casha and Nadia Hamilton assisting with the setup, ably led by Kerry Anne Frost.
Also, thanks to Jeevan Vasimalla, Nadia Hamilton and Steve Clarke for assisting at the Camberwell Sunday market.
Next week’s meeting will be a Melbourne Cup Cocktail celebration at the Box Hill Golf Club rooftop. We will also be celebrating the club’s 66th anniversary.
Greetings Fellow Consortium Members and Supporters,
We are now able to report that a very successful visit to Timor-Leste has been completed on behalf of the Consortium to view the progress made over the past two years on this Project.
We are very happy to welcome Nav and Brett to the Rotary Club of Camberwell. Both are extremely impressive new members and we look forward to their fellowship, efforts and support, together in Rotary.
Sunday Market Roster in November
A big thank you to George De Souza, Patrick Docherty, Fabienne Nichola, Paul Casha, Alan Lorenzini, Brenda Innes, Rob and Glenda Davies, Patty Laufenberg, Maria Wiechers, Yvonne Wills, Peter Pratt, Jeevan Vasimalla, Steve Clarke, Nadia Hamilton, Michael Blood, John Walmsley and Ian Brown (Justine’s Dad) who undertook shifts in October, especially those who volunteered for a successive monthly shift or an additional shift to overcome the
shortfall in members’ availability. Included also is Richard Gray who readily stepped in for
the final weekend but had to cancel due to Helen’s injury and surgery. A special thank you
to John Walmsley for replacing Richard at very short notice.
Bunnings BBQ Champions
Thank you for your fantastic effort last Saturday. Our total profit was around $2000!! We certainly had two "A" teams -with Murray, George and Andrew on the BBQ, servers Paul, Yvonne, Fabienne, Gary, Teresa, Michelle, and Nadia.
Although it started off a little slow, it certainly moved along and by 12.00 we needed to race off (thank you Teresa) and get more bread. It is always a fun event where we have the opportunity to engage with the public.
Thank you also to our 'onioneers' -Kerry Anne, Murray and Lindy, Teresa and Patty - the tantalizing smell of BBQ wafted up into Bunnings Store all day.
Our next BBQ is planned for November 12th. Looking for a Team Captain to help set up this last one for the year.
