We gather together on the lands of the traditional custodians, the Wurundjeri people. We pay our respects to all of Melbourne’s First Peoples, to their ancestors and Elders, and to our shared future together.

Myeloma Australia Lunch Wednesday 6th March 24
There was no club meeting on the 6th of March given our normal club meeting was replaced by the Myeloma Walk on 3rd March at the first Hawthorn Makers Market for the year.
However, Myeloma Australia had organised the “Greatest Call Long Lunch” for the 6/3/24. This event was sold out in a very short space of time, and we were very fortunate to get two tables. Eighteen Camberwell Rotarians including partners and a former member of the club Tom MacLean, and his wife Helen attended the event. See picture below.
Unfortunately, Frank Leigh was absent due to ill health and Patrick Docherty had to leave early so they are not in the picture.
Additional details of the event and pictures are in the Club news section of the bulletin.
Just a reminder for next week is that we have the induction of Lindy Anderson - wife of current Treasurer Murray so please bring your partners to welcome Lindy to the club.
Let’s work together, to take action to create hope in the world and in our local communities.
Sandy Roberts is an icon in Australian media broadcasting, having commentated on more than 1,000 AFL Games, 11 Olympics and many more sporting events across 40+ years. His calls and his iconic voice are synonymous with some of the biggest moments in sport.
In May 2022, after retiring from his long career, Sandy was diagnosed with myeloma. He, like many, had never heard of the disease. Sandy’s wife Carolyn went into research mode and eventually found her way to Myeloma Australia connecting, by the phone to one of their fifteen, specialist myeloma nurses. Through this experience Sandy came forward and offered his support to Myeloma Australia to become an ambassador and to use his profile to raise awareness.
This is now his Greatest Call. A call for more awareness, more investment, more support and to ultimately find a cure for myeloma which resulted in the lunch on the 3rd of March.
Jeff Browne the Collingwood president revealed in October 23 that he has been diagnosed with myeloma, so the knowledge and profile of myeloma is increasing steadily.
In support on the day were Jennifer Keyte, Bruce McAvaney, Eddie McGuire, and Brian Roberts. A very funny panel discussion.
A Very Full House!
All in All, a great event and fantastic to see Myeloma getting some publicity and funding which hopefully leads to a cure. Thank you to the Camberwell Rotary members for supporting Adrian.
It's been 12 months in the making but I'm very pleased to announce that we have a new brand for Myeloma Australia. Many of you had commented to me how the old branding was starting to wear thin. A little outdated, somewhat old fashioned and not as optimistic as we need to be.
So, we got to work and with the help and support of many in the community and the probono support of agency, TBWA, we produced a whole new brand. More than just a logo, our new brand picks up all the things we know and love about the myeloma community and why we exist. We landed on statements like; "To be a continuous source of action, education and support for Australian's fighting myeloma." This statement reinforced our purpose.
Other work to define who we are centred on our personality as an organisation; driven by empathy, passion, being positive upbeat and knowledgeable. The process has been great. From now you'll see the colour and vibrancy in all that we do. We continue to be driven by the needs of our myeloma community. We are there for you and with you.
The launch of the new brand has come just in time for Myeloma Action Month. During the month of March, we will be hosting a variety of events to raise community awareness of myeloma. These are My Greatest Walk Sunday 3rd March 2024 and My Greatest Call Long Lunch Wednesday 6th March 2024
