CAMBERWELL SUNDAY MARKET
NOTES FOR VOLUNTEERS
Dear Member
It is important to note that our Club has a financial agreement with the Rotary Club of Balwyn that allows us to benefit financially from our assistance at the Sunday Market. This agreement also imposes financial penalties on our Club when rostered personnel are late for their shift or fail to attend.
As part of our agreement, we are required to provide your name to Rotary Club Balwyn (RCB) and any changes to the Roster must be advised to RCB at the latest on the Thursday morning before your rostered day.
If you need to change please:
- Seek a replacement from a club member, relative or friend.
- Advise me by email of the change and who is replacing you.
- Note that changes after Thursday morning can only be in the case of an emergency. After Thursday morning you will need to ring me on 0419 809 855 to advise me of your replacement.
On the day you are rostered, you are required to arrive no later than 6.50 am for Shift 1 or 9.50 am for Shift 2.
- There is long term parking on Riversdale Road to the East of Trafalgar Rd;
- Take gloves and a scarf if you feel the cold;
- Take a drink and a snack (and a chair if you wish – the CSM operator has some chairs as well);
- Present yourself to the Balwyn Rotary Officer in Charge at the Rotary caravan (near pedestrian crossing at K Mart) where you will be kitted out with a hat, name tag and smock that identifies you as a Rotary volunteer;
- You will be provided with a set of instructions and donation collecting cup;
- Trading ceases at 12.30pm when the gates are no longer staffed;
- Stall holders are required to be packed up and cleared from the site by 1.00 pm;
- You will be free to go from 1 pm (not 12:30 as pack up duties are necessary).
Donations collected during the day are distributed between the clubs according to the number of volunteers from each club. As RC Camberwell has 2 full shifts and there are 10 full shifts in total, then our club will be entitled to 1/5th of the collected amount (this can be up to $1000). I will be notified by email in due course of the disbursement which is confirmed after the security count.
Should there be any ‘no shows’, then of course the calculation changes. In addition, there is a fine of around $200 on our club for non-attendance by a member.
Repeated no shows will result in RCB cancelling our participation.
If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact me.
Regards,
Jim O’Hara
