Fellowship Night Social Event – Dunyazad Lebanese Restaurant
Another great fellowship night was held at a Lebanese restaurant serving delicious food followed by a late dessert order of very fresh Turkish Delight. Yumm! There were some thirty of us tucked away from the other diners and clearly everone enjoyed themselves evidenced by the lack of food left over. Great to see our newer members at these events and thanks again to the fellowship committee for organising.
Reminder - Rotary Young Leaders Awards (RYLA)
We have one potential candidate but are looking for three more. Please advise Adrian Campbell as soon as possible if there is any one you would like to nominate. We have now put the word out to Swinburne University, Box Hill Institute and the Camberwell Hockey Club.

Wednesday 4th September – Club Dinner Meeting – Club Assembly
Club assembly is a club meeting where club directors report to the club on their proposed projects. At this stage of the Rotary year, most committees are at the planning phase.
At the club assembly of 4 September, you will hear 3 presentations from Andy Chappell, Community Service, Adrian Campbell, Youth and Vocation and George de Souza, ROMP.
Feedback from members in the past is not being informed of the work of committees.
This is your opportunity to hear about how club funds are being used and details of the proposed activities being considered.
Your attendance would be much appreciated to support your committee’s presentation.
CCA have been successful in receiving a grant to take a volunteer team into the Shepparton area to help flood impacted households and now we are trying to round up more volunteers.
Project dates: 1-7 Oct 2024
Accommodation in Tatura Park Showgrounds - camping or some indoor areas you can lay a swag down. WC, showers, kitchen and meeting room are all there.
Meals should all be provided - except breakfast.
No specific skills required
Chatting with the impacted folk is very important - after this amount of time after the flooding events it is typically the most vulnerable who still need support.

On Saturday the 24th August the Club conducted our 3rd Sausage Sizzle for the year at Bunnings Hawthorn, and what a beauty it was!
Busy from start to finish, we churned through some 820 sausages, 20kg of sliced onions, and bread to serve it all on. Thanks to all the hard-working volunteers and the hungry customers, we took in $698 in cash and $2,358 through the two Tyros. Our BBQ Captain Nadia, with an eye to bargains and specials kept the cost of consumables down to $610, giving us a surplus on the day of $2,446! A record! So once again thanks to Nadia and the volunteers.
The next Bunnings Sausage Sizzle is on Saturday 23 November, so if you want to help with this fun, busy profitable fundraiser, mark the date in your diaries.
As you all know, volunteering at the Camberwell Sunday Market is an important part of our fundraising, as well as showing support to our Cluster Club the Rotary Club of Balwyn.
We have recently received communication from RC Balwyn outlining a 30% reduction in the gate takings over the last two years. Their report acknowledges that many of the reasons are outside their or our control (eg cost of living increases, cultural issues, younger age of patrons), the one thing we can influence is our engagement while greeting the Market patrons.
So in Balwyn Rotary's communication: The Market Committee requests that all volunteers be more engaging in welcoming patrons to the market and seeking a donation. We are not asking for aggression, be more engaging which encourages patrons to contribute.
Please keep this in mind during your next and subsequent Market Roster sessions.

Garden DesignFest 2024 is occurring again on 16 and 17 November 2024.
Please follow our social media and share with your friends and family to help support our Rotary charities the principle one for this event being Impact for Women.

Bookings will be open via the website from September 1 for Weekend passes. You will also be able to purchase tickets to individual gardens as well as partake in Bus Tours of our wonderful gardens and Bus Tour details will be available soon.
It is happening again, and it would be wonderful if you would like to be involved. We would love to have you.
You can register as an individual or form your own Team. Get ready to start walking in October. You do not need to be in Melbourne to do this as you can participate in your own area.
