HOPE IN A SUITCASE PROJECT — Sports Equipment Drive Completed
After six weeks of coordination with Sportsmart Moorabbin, Alan Lorenzini has finalised a fantastic purchase of sportsballs for our foster care gift packs:
  • 80 small footballs (size 5)
  • 40 full-size footballs
  • 65 netballs
  • 65 basketballs
  • 160 tennis balls
  • 90 soccer balls
Sportsmart generously supported the project with a discount and free delivery directly to the Hope in a Suitcase warehouse. All balls arrived deflated — otherwise we’d have needed a semi-trailer to move that many!
In the spirit of Yvonne’s diligent shopping, Alan stretched our budget to maximise the number of gifts. We may never see the smiles and joy these items will bring, but we know they’ll make a real difference.

Thank you, Yvonne and Alan, for your commitment to these kids. You have personified Service above Self.

To conclude the project, we will visit the Hope in a Suitcase warehouse, in Heidelberg, for a photo opportunity as a group of us helps pack some suitcases. This will be planned for a weekday after the Art Show. If you would like to be involved, please let Nadia know.

Box Hill Institute Recognition and Awards Gala
On Thursday 25th of June, Lyndon Joss and Michael Blood represented the Camberwell Rotary Club at the Box Hill Institute Recognition and Awards Gala.

This was held at the Crown Aviary, and its purpose was to bring together and recognise the Student of the Year Award Winners, The Staff Achievement and Recognition Award Winners, and finally to present Industry Awards to acknowledge the important role that Industry and partners of the Box Hill Institute play in the successful educational outcomes of their students and for the whole Victorian population.

Camberwell Rotary has been a partner with the BHI since 2005 with our “Bert Stevens Apprentice Scholarships* that are awarded annually. We are one of 40 partners that work closely with the BHI for mutual advantage for both sides.
